According to information from many farmers in the South and Central Highlands, the current selling price of black pepper ranges from $4.32 to $4.71 per kilogram depending on the type and region. In provinces like Dak Lak and Gia Lai, the price is commonly between $4.32 and $4.51 per kilogram, while in Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc, it ranges from $4.51 to $4.71 per kilogram.
Some farmers have reported that this price has increased by $0.39 to $0.47 compared to over half a month ago, by $0.51 to $0.78 compared to 1-2 months ago, and by up to $1.95 to $2.16 per kilogram compared to the same period last year.

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, black pepper prices have remained at low levels for an extended period in recent years, leading to a decrease in cultivation area. Old pepper gardens have been replaced by other crops, especially durian. Additionally, this year’s unusual hot and dry weather conditions have further reduced production. This year’s production is estimated to be only about 170,000 tons, a 10% decrease compared to last year, marking the lowest level in the past 5 years.
The significant increase in black pepper prices is welcome news for pepper growers to compensate for the low prices in the past years (2019 and 2020). According to experts, with the price trend of black pepper from the beginning of the year until now, black pepper is entering a new phase of price increase. The main reason is the limited global supply of black pepper.
The Vietnam Pepper Association predicts that black pepper prices will continue to rise in the coming period. However, the association also advises farmers not to expand the black pepper cultivation area hastily, but to focus on investment and care towards sustainable and stable pepper growth.
